A Designer’s Winter Comfort Kit

Winter asks a lot of us — and of our homes. When the days are short and the air is dry, I find myself reaching for pieces that add warmth, softness, and a sense of ritual. This isn’t about trends or must-haves. It’s about the things that genuinely make winter feel better: beautiful light, cozy textures, small moments of care, and objects that bring a little joy to everyday routines.

These are the pieces I’m loving, using, and dreaming about right now — my personal winter comfort kit.

A petite marble lamp

Small but mighty. This little marble lamp is perfect for keeping things softly lit through long winter evenings — on a nightstand, shelf, or tucked into a cozy corner. Warm light makes all the difference this time of year.

Fun candles in all the right colors

I’m always drawn to candles that feel sculptural and playful, especially in rich, wintery hues. Etsy continues to be a goldmine for these — truly, I love Etsy. Lighting one instantly changes the mood.

Hand-painted porcelain eye candles

Totally my jam. These are whimsical, artistic, and feel like little pieces of art scattered around the house. I love how they bring personality and a bit of magic into a space.

A mohair throw blanket

Mohair is one of my favorite winter textures — it’s incredibly warm, soft, and feels so luxurious without being precious. Draped over a sofa or chair, it makes everything feel instantly cozier.

A beautiful tea box

This was a Christmas gift and I am obsessed. Every tea in this box is genuinely delicious, and making a cup in the afternoon and at night has become a little ritual I look forward to daily.

Mike Parry handmade mugs

Handmade ceramics always feel grounding to me, and these mugs hit all the right notes — great shape, beautiful colors, and perfect for slow mornings or cozy evenings.

A pleated linen lamp in olive

Soft light, beautiful texture, and a color that feels so right for winter. This kind of lighting adds warmth without overpowering a space.

Tapered candles I keep coming back to

Simple, elegant, and timeless. I love how tapered candles add height and glow to a table or mantel, especially during the darker months.

A portable green marble lamp

I really want this one. Portable lighting is such a game-changer in winter — being able to move soft light wherever you need it feels both practical and indulgent.

Another mohair throw — chartreuse and camel

Because one mohair throw is never enough. This color combination feels rich, warm, and unexpected in the best way.

An eye cream that will change your life

I use this every single evening. It’s incredibly smooth, nourishing, and feels like a small luxury that actually makes a difference — especially in dry winter air.

A heavy-duty face cream

Thick, restorative, and exactly what my skin needs in winter. It’s rich, but wow — it works. One of those products I reach for again and again.

A favorite face mask

This is my go-to when my skin needs a reset. It leaves me with that glass-skin glow and feels like instant self-care.

A cozy swivel chair with fun trim

Comfort matters in winter, and this chair delivers. Cozy, sculptural, and finished with a trim detail that adds just the right amount of personality — and yes, the color is perfect for the season.

Winter doesn’t have to be something we simply get through. With a few thoughtful pieces, our homes can feel warmer, softer, and more supportive during this long stretch of the year.
