Vintage stores are one of my favorite places to find truly one-of-a-kind pieces — the kind of things that make a space feel layered, storied, and totally unique. Whether I’m shopping for a client or hunting for something special for my own home, here are the categories I always check out when I walk into a vintage shop.
Vintage Art (Especially the Weird Stuff)
I can’t resist the charm of vintage art — especially the quirky, bold, or slightly strange pieces. Whether it’s a moody portrait, a punchy graphic horse, or a kitschy floral still life, I’m all in. Art is such an easy way to add soul and character to a space, and vintage pieces often come with incredible frames that feel custom.

Unique Lighting
Lighting can make or break a room, and vintage lighting has a magic you just can’t replicate. I love finding sconces, table lamps, and pendants with unusual shapes, colored glass, or that perfect aged patina. Pro tip: even if it needs rewiring, it’s often worth the extra effort for the design payoff.

Solid Wood Furniture
Vintage furniture was often built to last, with real wood, dovetail joints, and timeless proportions. I always keep an eye out for credenzas, desks, dining tables, and nightstands. These pieces ground a room — and mixing them with modern elements keeps the overall look fresh.

Brass & Ceramic Objects
There’s always a little corner in vintage shops filled with sculptural brass animals, abstract shapes, or perfectly imperfect ceramics — and I always make a beeline for it. These small pieces pack so much personality and warmth. Whether grouped on a shelf or sitting solo on a stack of books, they always add soul and shimmer.

Woven & Rustic Storage
I’m a sucker for baskets, trays, and rustic bins — anything with great texture and patina. These pieces are as functional as they are beautiful and perfect for styling in entryways, bathrooms, or under benches. They’re the unsung heroes of home organization, and vintage versions are usually way more charming than anything new.

Whether you're sourcing for a project or just hunting for fun, vintage stores are full of hidden gems. Take your time, trust your gut, and always measure before you buy.
